Gateway Counseling Center

Below is a comprehensive list of the services that Gateway Counseling Center offers.  We offer a wide variety of therapy groups as well as indivudal, couples, play and family therapy:

• First Time Last Time: This program is designed to address the first time offenders of the Michigan Drunk Driving Law.  This is a two session (3 hours per session) psycho-educational program.
• Another Way Home: This 26 week substance abuse/drug addiction group is specially designed to meet the needs of young adults ages 17-25.  This group facilitates the recovery/change process through assessment, education and therapeutic intervention.  This is beneficial to the first time offender and to repeat offenders.
• Perspectives: This 26 week domestic violence/substance abuse group addresses the issues of power and control, anger management and rage within the context of an intimate relationship.
• Connections Women's Empowerment Group: Connections offers women the chance to take time and space within their busy lives to focus on the things that really matter-hopes, dreams, stengths and values.
• Love and Logic: This service is offered both individually and in a group setting.  The purpose of this group is to facilitate healthy parenting skills through the use of innovative and practical parenting tools.
• Substance Abuse Evaluations: This service is benefical and required for individuals who are petioning the appeals board in order to have their drivers license reinstated.
• Substance Abuse Screenings: This screening session includes a one page document for probation officers/attorneys that provides diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
•  Individual Therapy: Indiviudal outpatient therapy offered once a week for 50 minutes.  Designed to address mental health issues, depression, relationship issues, eating disorders, addiction, self harm. This time is your time to explore and discuss what is going on in your life and what you would like to change.
• Couples Therapy:  Couples counseling offered once a week for 50 minutes. Designed to assist couples in resolving conflict and strengthening their relationship. 
• Family Therapy:  Familes meet once a week for 50 minutes to address/improve family relationships and enhance communication. 
• Play Therapy: A child meets with a trained therapist in a specially designed play room for 50 minutes per week.  This type of therapy is designed meet the needs of a younger child.
